Kaghaz Mahal
A palace folded out of paper. Unfold the card and the blush sky opens.
Some invitations are printed on paper. This one is cut from it: a folded cream card with a lace border sits shut on the screen, the guest taps the seal, the two halves swing open and a Rajasthani palace of paper domes and jali windows floats up in a blush sky with marigolds in the air.
Every screen after that is its own painted paper plate. The five functions each get a page in their own tone, dusty rose for the Engagement, sage for the Mehndi, indigo night for the Sangeet, ivory for the Pheras, candlelit mauve for the Reception, each with directions and the wedding page with a real add to calendar. The story beats, the families and the RSVP sit inside painted jharokha and marigold frames, and the RSVP ends in a burst of petals.
